This Just In:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers absolutely suck, especially the defense. As in stink the joint up. As in really, really bad.

I'm okay with the offense. Gradkowski is a rookie with a fair amount of promise. The offensive line has two rookies on the right side. Clayton is only in his 3rd year, and his 2nd year was mostly spent being injured, so it's only his second healthy year. Cadillac Williams is in his second year. All this to say that we have a young offense that is gaining experience and I believe will be improving over the next couple of years.

But the defense... We had a dominating defense several years ago. Those days are long gone. We gave away a lot of picks to get Gruden, and what we've had has been spent on the offense. Now it has caught up with us. We can't tackle. We can't defend the pass. Offenses are pretty much having their way with us.

So what to do? Well, this year is toast, trying to win is a waste of time. The rest of this season should be dedicated to giving the young guys, especially on defense, as much experience as possible. Seriously, sit the starters. Let the up-and-comers get some valuable experience.

Derrick Brooks, I love you, man, you are the ultimate role model. You are what is good and right with professional sports. Announce your retirement at the end of the season.

Smack Juran Bolden up side the head. He can be brilliant on one play, and blow chunks 20 seconds later. He needs to get his act together or get out of Tampa.

It is time for Monte Kiffin to go. It has become clear that a great deal of the coaching skill lay with his assistants, and they are gone. Monte has done a magnificent job over the years, if only in picking great assistant coaches, but it's time for a change.

Jon Gruden had better show something next year, or we will need to switch head coaches as well. He took a team that was taught discipline by Tony Dungy and fired them up enough to win a Super Bowl. But once he was truly on his own, he has sucked royally. Last year was a fluke - we should not have won many of the games we did win, and now we're seeing what a fluke last year was.

You know, if we had just kept Tony, and brought in a true offensive coordinator, and made Tony let him run the offense...
