Wake Up and Smell the Coffee

Israel is carpet bombing southern Lebanon! They're killing innocent civilians! Oh the horror! Sure, they gave warning to the civilians, telling them to leave, but they had already bombed the roads and bridges, so the civilians had no way to get out! Oh the horror!

*sigh*

Let's go over it again. Israel made concessions years ago, and pulled out of southern Lebanon. They have honored their agreement ever since. In the mean time, the "beautiful, wonderful, innocent" people of Lebanon have allowed Hezbollah to set up camp and flourish in their midst. Then Hezbollah makes an unprovoked attack on Israel.

Lebanon made their bed, and now they're sleeping in it. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET BOMBED BECAUSE OF TERRORISTS IN YOUR MIDST, DON'T HARBOR THEM! Is that really such a tough concept? IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TERRORISTS SET UP CAMP IN YOUR COUNTRY, RISE UP AGAINST THEM AND KILL THEM OR AT LEAST BOOT THEM OUT! What is so amazingly complex about that statement?

It is time for the bleeding heart liberals to simply accept the fact that Lebanon harbored killers and now it's come back to haunt them. Oh, but wait - next the leftist loonies come back with "Israel's playing too rough! They're response is disproportionate!"

Okay, next simple truth: You can't be reasonable with unreasonable people, you can't trust untrustworthy people, and you can't negotiate with people who have no interest in negotiating. When will people come to understand this? The Islamic extremists are not interested in compromise. They have no desire to live in peace with other religions and cultures - as a matter of fact, just the opposite. They are not out to grab some land for themselves, they are not content to disconnect from the rest of the world and live in their own society. They have one, and only one, single purpose: to make every other single person on the planet think exactly like they do - or kill them. Black/white. On/off. True/false. Profess radical Islam/die.

That's IT, people. No other options. No compromise. No deals. No co-existence. Just their brand of Islam. Or death.

If you knock that kind of person down, they will get up and come at you again. As long as they draw breath, they will keep getting up and trying to kill you. They understand but one thing: kill or be killed. So if you do not want them to kill you, you only have one course of action: kill them.

I wish it wasn't so. I wish they would understand that conversion by sword results in a hollow faith. I wish they would try to convert me by showing me the merits of their tenets, the beauty of their faith, the logic of their arguments - and not the sharpness of their swords. Present your truth to me and either it will win me over or I will pay the price in the next life.

How much confidence do you have in your beliefs if you have to force people to adopt them?

Israel is doing the right thing. They are going in and killing the terrorists before the terrorists cause them any more (unprovoked) harm. The only diplomacy that should be going on is an agreement with Syria for Syria to stay out of it, and an agreement with Lebanon for Lebanon to help clean up the mess it has created. If the Lebanese people don't like what Israel is doing, then they should identify the terrorists and help Israel. If the Lebanese people are okay with Hezbollah, then they must be okay with suffering Hezbollah's fate right along with it.
